The climate of the Algarve is mild, with spring coming early and the winters being short. The area boasts around a 100 or so beaches which vary from vast expanses of golden sand, to beaches backed by rugged cliffs, with beautiful little rock pools and coves to explore. The Algarve has truly spectacular headlands. As you travel inland the scenery changes dependant on the time of year, and you can see orange and lemon groves, almonds and avocados, or it could be orchards of cherries – the variety is almost endless. 

Central Algarve has been a popular choice for many years, but the western and eastern Algarve are now becoming popular.  The Western Algarve is a favourite with the Portuguese themselves and includes towns such as Lagos and Sagres.  The Eastern Algarve which borders Spain, has been a well kept secret, and it is much less built up than the Central Algarve. It has several unspoilt Portuguese fishing towns like Tavira dotted along its coast with beautiful stretches of long sandy beaches.

The airport at Faro is fairly central, and as more and more regional UK airports are offerings flights here, the Algarve area is set to continue being a top choice for either permanent or holiday homes.
